Background and Purpose: Drug abuse is one of the most important problems in the medical and psychiatric fields that has reached a global scale; a problem that destroys the lives of millions of people and consumes huge funds to combat it and compensate for the damage caused by it. Unfortunately, the number of victims of drug abuse is also increasing and crosses all cultural, family and social boundaries and threatens human health; the aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between assertiveness, problem-solving skills and introversion with addiction tendencies.
Method: This study is a descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population was the students of the Science and Research Unit of Islamic Azad University, Tehran Branch in 1402. Using the purposive sampling method, 384 people were selected as the sample size.Participants completed the Assertiveness (Gambrill and Rigi, 1975), Problem Solving Inventory (Heppner, 1988), and Introverted-Extroverted Personality Type Questionnaire (Karamzadeh, 2013). Data were analyzed using correlation and regression methods in SPSS-26.
Findings: The results of this study showed that there is a correlation between the variables of assertiveness, problem solving skills, and introversion with addiction tendencies.
Conclusion: Based on this, it can be concluded that assertiveness, problem solving skills, and introversion can play an important role in preventing addiction tendencies. These can be considered as important variables for developing prevention and intervention programs in addiction prevention, in order to prevent the spread of addiction and strengthen the health of the community
