Background and Purpose: Perceptual-motor skills play a crucial role in learning and acquiring sports skills. Additionally, visual indicators and sports vision skills can impact psychological factors. Therefore, attention to sports vision specific to the particular sport is of great importance. This study aimed to determine the impact of special positional sports vision training (SVT) on self-confidence and learning the side-foot pass skill in novice soccer players.
Methods: This quasi-experimental study employed a pre-test post-test design with a control group. Sixty novice soccer players were selected through convenience sampling. They were randomly assigned to one of three groups: special position SVT, non-positional SVT, and the control group (traditional training). The study was conducted in five phases: pre-test, training, post-test, first follow-up, and second follow-up. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with SPSS-24.
Results: The results indicated that special position SVT had an effect on learning the side-foot pass skill in soccer. Additionally, both special position and non-positional SVT could increase sports self-confidence.
Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that one of the effective factors in motor learning and improving self-confidence in novice soccer players is special positional SVT.
