Abstract: (306 Views)
Background and Purpose: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a complex psychological condition often characterized by intrusive thoughts, excessive arousal, and avoidant behaviors. Individuals with PTSD typically experience a high level of mental rumination, exacerbating symptom severity and impairing their functioning. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in reducing rumination symptoms in individuals with PTSD.
Method: This study employed a quasi-experimental design. A sample of 18 participants diagnosed with PTSD was selected using purposive sampling from people with PTSD residents of Tehran. Participants were assigned to two groups, experimental and control, and completed the Response Styles Questionnaire (Nolen-Hoeksema & Morrow, 1991) in pretest and posttest assessments. The experimental group received tDSC intervention. Data were analyzed using covariance analysis in SPSS-26 to assess changes in rumination symptoms after the intervention.
Results: Initial findings indicated a significant reduction in rumination symptoms among participants who received tDSC intervention.
Conclusion: This study provides preliminary evidence supporting the potential effectiveness of tDSC in improving rumination symptoms in individuals with PTSD. It appears that this intervention may have a positive impact on rumination, although further analysis is needed to clarify its specific effects on various dimensions of this method.
